Shining diamond found on the street

Also yesterday it was the  a press conference presenting the LUX Film Prize.
The Festival is screening the three finalists for this year's LUX Prize:  Ida by Paweł Pawlikowski (Poland), Class Enemy by Rok Bicek (Slovenia) and Girlhood by Celine Sciamma (France).
This prize is awarded annually by the European Parliament.
Present at the event were the head of the European Parliament press office in Greece, Leonidas Antonakopoulos; emeritus professor at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and former European Parliament Member (MEP) Chrysoula Paliadeli; film critic  Michel Demopoulos — who is also a member of the film industry professionals comprising the selection panel — and actress Karidja Toure, who stars in Girlhood.

George Krassakopoulos was the moderator of the event.

Of the three movies, wich are in the screening program, yesterday we could watch the Grilhood, from Celine Sciamma.
The story is about teenagers. Black teengers. The movie is drawing a frame. No license for white personage in the movie. The movie doesnt use banal ways to show the integration. Great.
The protagonist is the 16 year old Vic. The role plays young actress, Karidja Toure. It is her first film, they were found her in the street and she was very excited to be a part of it.
„It is so good to wake up and know that I need to go for shooting. Because it is something special, it is not a morning when I’m going to the shcool.”- said Karidja Toure on the press conference.

The new experience were not just about having fun:
„The most important and the hardest scene was in the end, when I needed to cry. Celine needed it very much. But the scences with the girls, and when we were singing the Shine like a diamond, it was very funny.”

For the question as a teeneger and the actress of the movie, what she thinks about open ending, she said: „ Vic is just a teenager, she has a lot of time to decide what she want-need to do. Maybe she will go back to her family, or find a job……”

If the movie will winn the prize of this year, you will have oppurtunity to decide personally it has a happy end or not.
